PGS Forum, Join Now - Mark Norman Your PGS Forum, Join Now - Mark Norman I wanted to stress a point I may not have made clear last night this is Your forum. I think of it as our ‘reference library’ personally. It will be up to you to give it of value. Under “Famous Poets”, list the poets you love, give background on them and examples of their work. Under “Poetry Forms”, list your favorite forms, history, how-to, and examples. If your favorite is already listed, add to it. We all have something valuable to add. I will try to do some maintenance work as far as shuffling list into alphabetical order or subcategorizing certain items. Let me know if you want to add something and do not have the clearance, I take care of it. As far as the areas to discuss topics that may not seem wholly appropriate for our yahooPGS/email post, this is the place to do it. It is no longer necessary to carry your conversations to another topics board. There is some internal policing of profanity and I expect mature debates to take place (such as was recently exhibited in our yahooPGS/email post). Participants in that exchange have earned my respect through their restraint and maturity. I’m awaiting your request for entrance, http://poeticgenius.com/forum/profile.php?mode=register Mark Fellow PGS Members: I am pleased to announce the addition of the PGS Forum to our web site. I have been batting the idea around for the past few months and just last week gave my wife, Sharon, the go ahead to make plans to implement the forum. I have high hopes that the forum will provide PGS with a more permanent wealth of knowledge – a well-stocked “reference library”, so to speak - than the Yahoo! Message board has been able to provide. Visit “The Poets Corner” to share or read about poetry forms, favorite poets/styles, helpful advice/links, or favorite quotes.
In addition to the poetry knowledge base, the forum also contains the “usual” discussion board topics in order to provide PGS members with an additional outlet to voice their opinions, thoughts, etc and get to know other members on a more personal level. “Pull Up A Chair” and “Get Acquainted” with new members, visit the “Coffee House” for relaxing conversation, or dare to step into “Free For All” where no topic is taboo. There is also “The Blue Room” for members who would like to share their experiences/advice/feelings on depression, which most of us can relate to on some level, myself included. Please note that Yahoo! should still be used to submit all works (poetry, prose, etc) for the Apotheosis journal as I will not be scanning through all the posts to pull submissions from the forum. Although non-members will be able to view all posts, they will be restricted from posting. For this reason, I do not foresee any current need for moderators at this point. In the past, our group has handled any differences in opinions in an intelligent manner and I am confident that this will be carried over to the forum. Steps to register for the PGS Forum are the same as other forums, however because this is a restricted board, I will receive notice and have to approve all registrations before you may be officially “registered”. Please keep in mind the differences in time zones and that there may be a waiting period of up to eight hours before you receive final verification of your registration. The link to the forum can be found on the forums page of the PGS website: http://poeticgenius.com/forums.htm or a direct link to the forum is http://poeticgenius.com/forum/ Again, I’m hoping this will be a positive addition to what PGS has to offer its membership and I’m open to any feedback on improving the forum. and I will start locking the forum up tonight. I will send this message
out to all members of PGS., so that members who are not on yahoo and do
not wish to receive email post will realize there is a new alternative
now. If you are missing out on the Yahoo/PGS post segment of our society, this link http://poeticgenius.com/forum/profile.php?mode=register will hook you up to our new forum. The forum will be mercurial, changing as the membership grows and changes. It is your forum, and you are welcome to construct and build. Initially, it is set up to be a reference hub for the poet, with forums that address the many other talents and interest we possess. Tonight we are locking it up, as a for member’s eyes only forum, with the belief that we share a common passion and common issues that we do not necessarily want to share publicly. The trust and security posed by a closed forum will be invaluable to a lot of member who have chosen not to be active because of reasons of privacy, thus posts to the forum should remain there and not be duplicated, forwarded, or published. All material for Apotheosis should be posted through out Yahoo/PGS site PoeticGeniusSociety@yahoogroups.com or emailed directly to me marknorm@adelphia.net
